Job Secured For Mere After Retirement?
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has stated that Vuyo Mere will remain part of the side should he decide to retire when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Mere joined the Rockets on an 18-month contract in January this year, after his contract at Swallows FC was terminated. Despite not playing regularly, the veteran is a key part of the team and Sukazi feels he is someone who would add valued post his playing days.

The 38-year-old Mere is yet to reveal what will happen with his career when his contract expires, but Sukazi will support any decision the player makes, even if it means carrying on.
Vuyo was brought to TS Galaxy to be part of us for the forseeable future. In other words, if he takes a decision not to continue playing, he will still be part of the club in one way or another. He has contributed a lot. Mind you, he and Lefa (Hlongwane) were the only players who signed during the last January transfer window, and they have both contributed immensely. Vuyo, in particular, with his leadership qualities in the changeroom," Sukazi told the Siya crew.
"He came at a time where we were facing the axe and he had to come in and hit the ground running, with getting the team together in the changeroom. He did all that and I am happy with him. He is not being assessessed or judged. His future won't be decided on the contractual affairs, whether it's ending or not, unless he decides otherwise or gets an opportunity somewhere else that he can't refuse. That's why we have not put emphasis on his contract coming to an end. It's a decision that he will have to take. If he decides not to continue playing, he has a club where he can continue to advance a career in football, in some capacity or another."

Mere's experience will come in handy as Galaxy face a tough second half of the season. After a promising start to the campaign, the club has dropped down to 12th on the DSTV Premiership standings, just two points ahead of bottom of the table club Maritzburg United. The two sides, in fact, lock horns at Harry Gwala Stadium on December 30 in what many would describe as a six-pointer.
