Dithejane Flourishing At Galaxy After Chiefs Exit

TS Galaxy has been commended for the resurrection of Puso Dithejane following his disappointment at Kaizer Chiefs.

Having come through the Transnet School of Excellence, Dithejane went on to join Chiefs where his star rose in their reserve team with his inspiring performances in the two years he was there between 2021 and 2023.

It came as no surprise that the attacking midfielder had been touted for making the step up to the first team at Amakhosi before his unexpected exit alongside then DStv Diski Challenge side teammate Omega Mdaka late last year.

While the real reason of the players' release remains unclear, several reports at the time suggested that the duo allegedly refused to serve as ball boys in one of the matches of the senior team.

So far in the 2023/24 campaign, having joined Galaxy soon after parting ways with Chiefs, Dithejane has made 13 league appearances with 12 of those in the starting line-up, as well as three other appearances in the Nedbank Cup in the Mpumalanga-based team's cup campaign that finished in the quarter-finals.

James Mothibi, who is a big fan of development football and who is currently the coach of Jacksa Spears in Northern Cape's third tier league, commends Galaxy for Dithejane's progress.

The 19-year-old scored his first topflight goal on Tuesday in the 1-1 draw against champions Mamelodi Sundowns to add to the assist he bagged in the previous match – the 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates, which was also his first at this level, last weekend.

"Puso Dithejane is a talented young player with a lot of potential. He reminds me of one former teammate of mine who is still going strong in the PSL at his age (turning 39 in June) after he initially wanted to quit football as a youngster and that is Lindokuhle Mbatha. When I was at Mpumalanga Black Aces, Lindo wanted to quit football at one stage, and he already had his mind made up on wanting to go and focus on his father's taxi business. I remember myself, (Jacob) 'Dukes' Machaka, Agent Sawu and Molefi Nntsoelengoe talking to Lindo and persuading him to re-consider his decision. We sat him down to convince him that with the talent and potential we saw in him, South African football could not afford to lose him. The boy listened to us and look at where he is now. He even went on to play for Sundowns and few other teams in his career and he has been doing well for himself in his life," said Mothibi, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"As a someone who is so passionate about football development, I am impressed with Puso Dithejane after what happened at Chiefs. All that he needs to do is to focus on the game and respect it. He's got to respect himself, his family and his team. He isn't the only one, as there are a few other boys that are doing well in that TS Galaxy side, as well as other PSL clubs. Bafana Bafana need players like them who are still hungry for success in football and who are passionate about the game. I'm happy that the coach (Sead Ramovic) is giving Puso and these boys opportunities to play," concluded Mothibi.
