Parker's New Chapter: From Striker To Coach
Despite the setback, Parker made a commendable recovery, appearing in several games towards the season's end. At 38, he has decided to retire from professional football a player. Parker's transition into coaching was influenced by his interactions with TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic and chairman Tim Sukazi, who recognized his potential off the field.
"When we came closer to the season, I was approached by coach Sead (Ramovic) and the chairman who said there's a vacancy in the DDC (DStv Diski Challenge) and we want you to take that role. I said 'no doubt I want to take it'," Parker told Marawa Sports Worldwide.
"Because I prepared myself for that opportunity and I'm grateful that opportunity came at the right time and here I'm."
Known for his versatility on the field, Parker, affectionately called 'Die Hond,' adapted to various roles, including central midfield, as his career progressed. His decision to embrace coaching was driven by his desire to give back to the sport that defined much of his life.
"The reason I said 'yes' immediately is because I worked with so many players. I have personally mentored players and still mentor players. The likes of Shandre Campbell comes from my mentorship, the likes of Donay Jansen who is at Kaizer Chiefs, comes from mentorship," he added.

Reflecting on his departure from Chiefs, where he spent over a decade, Parker expressed disappointment about how his tenure concluded.
"I was disappointed to leave Chiefs. I was advised by management in terms of educating myself so I thought me having played there for over 10 years and the qualifications I have achieved, I would probably be retained within the system.
"I didn't ask afterwards. I was also disappointed at the last minute (how I was released) during the off-season that I was not going to be retained any how. I also asked 'is there any way for instance for me to be retained within the system?' But then there was no response," Parker told Marawa.
Earlier in his career, Parker also played abroad, including stints at FC Twente in the Netherlands, Panserraikos in Greece and Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. He has clocked over 500 matches in his impressive career.
Now, Parker embarks on this new coaching journey, his wealth of experience and deep understanding of the game are expected to inspire and develop young talents at TS Galaxy. His transition from player to coach is not just a personal achievement but a testament to his enduring commitment to football.
