Orlando Pirates could beat Mamelodi Sundowns to the signing of Zambian-based DR Congo striker Andy Bobwa Boyeli.
Siya Crew sources close to both the player and Pirates have indicated that Bucs may be close to landing the Power Dynamos baller, as the 22-year-old was monitored by both Pirates and Downs.
The source also revealed that the Soweto giants is looking at releasing some strikers, including foreign forwards, which could open up a space for Boyeli, adding that Pirates have leaped ahead of Sundowns in their chase for the player.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Pirates Close To Beating Sundowns To Foreign Striker?" story:
"Mr. editor com on now, You know what would have happened if we wanted him. NOT INTERESTED," says Sibali4Dawana.
"I hope Downs take him. I'm so over us having African strikers only for them to warm the bench or not do the job. We also have so many strikers in-house that haven't been given a chance. Let's focus on developing our own. Let's show faith in your Lepasa, Makgopa, Mabasa (if he returns) grooming youngsters.
Kaizer Chiefs could be looking at a utility player who can slot in at left back and left midfield, with their focus said to be on Qobolwakhe Sibande.
Siya Crew sources has mentioned that Amakhosi could be interested in the utility player because of the way he can fit into the squad.
The Stellies youth graduate can also play as a holding midfielder, with a source indicating that Chiefs have been monitoring the 23-year-old for a while now.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Chiefs Turn Attention To Another Stellies Target?" story:
"Chiefs were very interested in Basadien until Stellies offered him another contract and they backed off. Quick question, if they wanted him so much, why didn't they buy him out of his contract," says Sibali4Dawana.
"There is nothing wrong with our scouting department but Bobby and Kaizer Jr simply don't want to spend and invest on quality players. Now they want to settle for less as usual, ugh," says isaac lekhosi lamilan.
"They mustn't confuse us," says user421446.
"The Chiefs scouts are the media, they are the ones monitoring and targeting players for Chiefs because most of the time, if not always, when the player is asked about a Chiefs offer, or move, they will know nothing about that.
"Let's put full support in them, be patient with them. We destroy our own, when they have a bad game or don't score in 5 games, we start booing, putting them under pressure coaches taking them out of the team completely destroys their confidence. It's everyone's job to score," says NoPain.
"What is the use because he wont be even be given a fair chance, why release Marou when he was not given a fair chance? A player who won player of the year and was even included in Cameroon's world cup squad and we are made to believe that he doesn't suit Pirates' style?
"I still believe Marou can offer something if given a chance like Makgopa," says demet1.
"I also believe Marou can offer the team better than Makgopa, just look what they did to Dzvukamanja, the poor guy was scratching the bench until the coach gave him a chance look what he did for the team..
"I still believe both Nga and Marou are not bad strikers, its just that there's an element of undermining foreign players in our team, I don't know who's doing this, maybe its Screamer," replies tm194441.
"'It seems Sundowns have other options as far as strikers are concerned, simply put 'Sundowns are not interested in Boleyi'. So the Pirates beating Sundowns is irrelevant," says makausemakause53.
"According to SL, Pirates always beat Sundowns when it comes to signing players, they beat them in signing Ndlovu, Ndlondlo, Sibisi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Kimviudi and who else?
"We are not surprised, for me they can continue to beat us on signing players, we will beat them on the field of play," says Manephilly.
