Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town City could lock horns in a January transfer tussle for the signature of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Junior Mendieta.
Siya Crew sources have indicated that both Western Cape clubs are eager to secure the Argentine in a short-term loan deal.
Mendieta could make a move despite only arriving at Downs in August, with a loan move ensuring he gets much-needed game time for potential CAF Champions League involvement come May or June.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Insider: The Two Clubs Fighting For Mendieta" story:
"At least he'll get parole, but it's for a short while," says jkmath2.
"Chiefs wanted to sign him as you say. The sad part for Chiefs, he is not a free agent," says afl.
"Sundowns bought him because Chiefs wanted to sign him," says T T Wa Lekhosi.
"Did he want to be signed by Chiefs?" replies Shikabala.
"I saw this one coming, Sundowns give European/African players a fair chance more than local players and it's worse for those who are not coming from SuperSport united and I dont get it, since they always buy quality players whenever they go in to the market," says Fair Comment.
"Unfounded theory, Lesiba Nku, Terence Mashego, Bathusi Aubaas are not given fair chances?. Players are bought and used for different reasons like cover in case of injuries, suspensions or lack of form just to name a few," replies MjBee.
"He's going to Cape Town City to sweeten the Mayo move, nothing new. It's happened before with the likes of Goss etc. That's how Downs work," says mmusiarchie.

After rejoining Kaizer Chiefs in 2022, Zitha Kwinika could find himself looking for a new club again, with Siya sources indicating that Amakhosi may look at releasing the defender.
The source revealed that competition for places from other central defenders and right backs has placed Kwinika under more pressure, with his future at the club described as a "blur."
Alternatively, the club could look to keep the Amakhosi youth product until the end of his contract in June 2025.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Chiefs Set To Release Senior Defender?" story:
"Certainly not a bad player. It's just that the Kaizer Chiefs badge is too heavy for most of these players, particularly the ones from the development," says gsithole.
"If we get injuries, what are we going to do? Keep the guy Khosi. We know he is good, that's why we bought him. If we are to compete, we need depth. Let's broaden our vision for the CAF Champions league and other cup competitions. No..no...no..." says lwazihnzimande.
"Hayi, his time is really up, long overdue in fact. Now that he is back at Kaizer Chiefs, his game has dropped drastically. He must go to Stellenbosch and their right back, van Rooyen to Chiefs," says mthunzijack7.
"He can do well at clubs like Cape Town Spurs. Their defenders are at the wrong side of the ladder. The ball is in his court, salary cut, game time or bench warmer at Chiefs. Other options are Richards Bay, Swallows or back at Stellenbosch," says Soccer Fanatic.
