Davids was handed over the reigns as the new head coach after the completion of matches before the FIFA World break, after Maritzburg parted ways with John Maduka.
The Team of Choice were on a downward spiral under Maduka, as back-to-back defeats prior to the recess against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows consigned them to the bottom of the table, three points from safety.
The Rockets, on the other hand, were also struggling to get results before the recess, as their 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United extended their winless run to nine matches.
Sead Ramovic's charges are lying 12th on the standings with 13 points, just two points above the Team of Choice.
