The Maritzburg United players will be playing for their futures in the play offs this weekend, knowing that there is absolutely no room for error when they take on Casric Stars in their penultimate clash.
While there are a few players expected to leave for greener pastures at the end of the season, such as Rowan Human and Karim Kimvuidi, some of the others in the squad are well aware of the fact that their livelihoods depend on them surviving relegation, to avoid going down to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where there will be uncertainty regarding the value of their contracts.

It's happened on numerous occasions before where players have had to take salary cuts after a club got relegated and, in these tough economic times, they would not want to find themselves in that situation.
For Maritzburg to stay alive in the playoffs, they need to make sure they collect maximum points against Casric at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. Currently on three points after two matches, a victory would put them on six points going into their final clash against Spurs, who lead the standings with nine points.
The Team of Choice beat Casric 2-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium, thanks to a brace from Human, who has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United. They need another solid performance, but clubs like Casric, who have nothing to lose, can sometimes be tricky.

Casric are out of the race to win promotion to the topflight, but they are determined to end the play offs campaign on a high, which means they are capable of upsetting Maritzburg.
