Siya sources added that the club is keen to retain his services for a longer period. If agreed upon, the deal could extend Mphahlele's stay at Usuthu until June 2027.
"The club has made it clear that they want to keep Rama (Mphahlele) for as long as they can and that's why they have apparently offered him another one-year with another year option. They believe he still has what it takes to help the team. So, for now, they are believed to have shown their intentions to keep him longer at the club," the Siya source stated.
A second insider highlighted Mphahlele's leadership as a key factor behind AmaZulu's interest in retaining him.

"They believe in his leadership skills. He is the captain on and off the field of play and that helps keep the players together and the club would like to have a player like him as they fight to achieve things together. So there are many reasons why they are willing to keep him for at least another season," the second insider told Soccer Laduma.
The 35-year-old former Bafana Bafana defender has made a decent amount of appearances for AmaZulu this season, showcasing his consistency and value to the squad.
When reached for comment, AmaZulu FC PRO Philani Ndlela could not confirm nor deny the new offer.
"There is nothing I can say now. The team is focusing on finishing the season in the top four," Ndlela told the Siya crew.
