The Siya crew reported last week that Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng had attracted attention from a club in one of Europe's prominent league's following a sensational 2022/23 season.
Odense BK have been revealed as the side monitoring the Bafana Bafana international, although it's believed there are no formal talks yet on any discussions or a potential move. What has emerged now is that the Danish Super League outfit are eager to suss out the player's value to determine his worth. Saleng joined Pirates from the now-defunct Free State Stars two years ago after finishing as the club's top goal scorer in the second tier of South African football, now known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The Soweto giants then immediately loaned him out to Swallows FC (now Moroka Swallows) without then coach Josef Zinnbauer giving him a fair chance.
But the arrival of Jose Riveiro gave Saleng a lifeline and he hasn't looked back – claiming the Players' Player of the Season award a few months ago as well as being nominated for the Footballer of the Season accolade.
It's this form that has put him on Odense's radar, but only Pirates can determine his value if they are willing to sell should the Danish club make an official approach. The Buccaneers signed Saleng on a three-year deal from Ea Lla Koto, so according to those records, his current deal ends in June 2024.
