The Siya crew understands Kaizer Chiefs will not be rushing to make a decision on the future of left back Sifiso Hlanti. The former Bidvest Wits star is in third year with Amakhosi and his contract with the side is set to expire at the end of the campaign, after it was extended for one more season a few months ago.
Hlanti is free to sign a pre-contract elsewhere when the January transfer window opens, but indications are that the Soweto giants do not feel pressured to open talks over a new deal just yet, especially with the lanky defender set to turn 34 by the end of the season.
The club is believed to be targeting the left back position for younger talent and this is where Hlanti could be affected. Happy Mashiane remains a player that the club are open to keeping for that position, but they are not ruling out the possibility of bringing in someone who can add quality for the long term.
Hlanti has made 10 appearances for the Glamour Boys in all competitions so far this season, opening his scoring account in the 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows last weekend. The Naturena-based side's management will be deliberating on the future of the Durban-born man towards the end of the campaign, and Hlanti will sure be waiting to hear what the future holds for him.
