Orlando Pirates may be looking at extending the contract of one of their experienced midfielders, the Siya crew has been informed.
Earlier this year, Bucs had already extended the contract of Thabang Monare for one year from June 2023 to June 2024.

Siya sources have now indicated that the club could give him another year on top of that, which is important for a player aged 34.
So, the former BidVest Wits player could remain at Pirates at least until June 2025, and sources have added how a new Bucs deal is highly possible.
"The technical team has recommended to management that they still need him beyond next year and beyond this current season. They feel like there is no replacement for him yet in that position and his experience is what they need," said the Siya source.
"That's the main reason for the club to want to keep him. For now it's just an offer but knowing how much the player loves to be at the club it won't be a problem to agree to a new one-year deal. So let's wait for January because I think they want to finalise it early this time around," the source observed.
A second Siya source stated that they have potentially proposed only a one-year extension for now because they want to monitor the outgoings and incomings of other players first.
"They don't want to give him a long term contract only to find that after next season they have what they want in terms of players in that position. They don't want to be stuck with him for a longer period even when they don't need him," said the second Siya source.
"So they feel the one-year extension until June 2025 is an idle situation. But for now it's a proposal and an offer to the player. So, it will all depend on talks," the source added.
Monare has featured in a significant amount of games already this season and has missed a few due to injury and a suspension. Other than that, he has been a reliable regular defensive midfielder for the club.
Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
