Insiders: Chiefs Increase Budget For Signing Players

Insiders close to the club have indicated that Amakhosi have set up a new budget, separate from the one they had in August, to secure the players Maliwa will recommend.

The sources added that the Head of Scouts will work directly with coach Nasreddine Nabi to identify players who will fit into the team not just for this season but for the future as well.

"Things are changing bit by bit because the head of scouting has the say in the signing of players who he feels will fit into the Kaizer Chiefs style and system of play and that's why the budget is available again. You know some of the players he has already identified may not have been part of the coach's list at the start of the season and that needed a new budget," said the Siya source.

"That is why management and the Sporting Director (Kaizer Motaung Jnr) have agreed to a new budget for the Head of Scouting which will help to acquire the players he will recommend from January going forward," the source added.

A second insider stated that the issue of trimming the squad according to the coach's preferences is still on the cards and the club is working on that.

"Even if new players come on board in January the coach still wants to cut down the squad to a manageable one and they are looking at all the players to either be loaned out or to be permanently sold in January as he wants to keep the players happy and have a more competitive nature at the club. So as much as there is a budget for the head of scouting in January there will still be players leaving," the second insider stated.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of preparing this story. Amakhosi prepare for the January transfer window with this new budget allocated to Maliwa, which highlights the club's commitment to strengthening the squad.

With potential new signings and a focus on trimming the squad, fans will be eager to see how these changes impact the team's performances next year.
