Van Rooyen has been on Pirates' radar since last season when the club's right-back problems first began.
Despite roping in Thabiso Lebitso from Chippa United, the Buccaneers have been looking for a permanent solution, especially with the CAF Champions League on the horison.
Stellies on their end have been adamant on holding onto their skipper and tied him down to a new long-term contract in 2022.
However Siya sources have informed the crew that Pirates and Stellenbosch have reached an agreement for the player.
According to the source, finer details are yet to be ironed out - but the deal is as good as done.
There is a haste on Pirates' end, the crew understands, as they hope to have Van Rooyen available for their CAF Champions League campaign.
An announcement is now imminent.
