South African youngster Nakedi Chipu has signed a professional contract with SC Espinho in Portugal.
Chipu came through the youth ranks of Polokwane United Academy in Thohoyandou, having initially joined the side for their U14 team.
The 21-year-old has been offered a professional contract, after he impressed the club during his time there last year.
"We are proud to announce that Nakedi Chipu (21) has signed his first professional contract with SC Espinho in Portugal! Nakedi joined Polokwane United Academy when the club was based in Thohoyandou during the 2013-14 season as an U14," confirmed Polokwane United Academy in their statement.
"He progressed all the way through the club structures until making the move to Portugal last year after a very good season in the ABC Motsepe League. Despite suffering an injury which kept him out for four months, he was still voted in the Sonic Team of the season 2018-19. Nakedi is one of the most gifted players to come from our development and we wish him all the best. He is also the second player to sign in Europe after Kgaogelo Sekgota (now on loan at Bidvest Wits from Vitória Setubal) signed with FC Stumbras in March 2017," the club confirmed.
