A South African coach has officially announced he is set to join Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), former Mamelodi Sundowns development coach Shawn Bishop has confirmed his move to Al Ettifaq.

The South African is joining the club, coached by Liverpool legend Gerrard, as their new Head of Methodology.
Bishop spent more than a decade at Sundowns overseeing the club's youth structures and the women's programme, while he also held the role of head of the club's academy.
After leaving Downs in 2023, he moved to Portugal to work on various projects and also worked with the Ugandan women's team.

He now joins the oil-rich country of Saudi Arabia to help develop Ettifaq's future, with high-profile stars such as Moussa Dembele, Demarai Gray and Georginio Wijnaldum currently representing the first team.
