Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview in edition 962, the Scotsman who has been in charge of the Tshwane-based side for seven games, spoke on their chances of finishing in the top eight of the Absa Premiership this season.
"We will try to push as hard as we can to move up the ladder. I don't want us to finish sixth when we could have pushed to finish third, for example. If we see eighth position as the best, then we will go for it," he said.
The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor also highlighted the cup competitions as a way of making progress with his team who languish in 11th position on the PSL log, having collected 27 points from a possible 66.
"There's also the Nedbank Cup and cup competitions throw up surprises," he said.
"I hope one surprise could be that we go far in the cup and it would mean we're making some progress," the former Chiefs coach told Soccer Laduma.
SuperSport United travel to face bottom-placed NFD side Moroka Swallows in their Nedbank Cup Round of 32 fixture at the Dobsonville Stadium tonight.
