Pitso Mosimane has admitted that Mamelodi Sundowns struggled without their first team regulars in their Nedbank Cup victory over NFD side, Highlands Park.
Hlompho Kekana and Leonardo Castro were both ineligible for the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 match against Allan Freese's team due to suspensions and, Mosimane believes that their absence, as well as the loss of other key players affected his team's performance, but also that the players on the pitch did well.
"It's true we missed players like Castro, Kekana, Langerman, Zungu and Mphahlele but the players who played in the team did very well," Pitso said after the match.
The former Bafana Bafana coach also said that it's the result that counts and that the available players managed to win, which shows that they are capable, despite not being first choice for the league leaders.
"Everyone in the team is capable of doing well and producing results like we did today. We can do with the players that we have at that time like you saw today," 'Jingles' added.
Sundowns beat Highlands after Keagan Dolly scored in the dying moments to secure their place in the Round of 16 and continue on their quest to retain the title.
