In his post-match interview after the 2-0 loss to Pirates on Saturday, the Amakhosi mentor said the outcome was not a true reflection of the game.
According to Komphela, Chiefs played well both in the first and second half of the game and created more chances. There have been different opinions regarding Komphela's comments.
Some football fans and pundits agree with the Chiefs coach, while others differ with him. The stats powered by Prozone show that Komphela might be having a point about feeling that Chiefs played well.
Chiefs achieved 86.22 % of successful passes compared to Pirates' 84.92. But they made a lot of backward passes at 99 compared to the 44 of Pirates.
Pirates defended 13 crosses compared to Chiefs' 7. Chiefs made 16 crosses, with Pirates making only 11 throughout the game. Chiefs made 84 final 3rd entries compared to the 57 of Pirates.
The Amakhosi made 27 penalty area entries compared to the 19 of Pirates. Chiefs were superior in passing, with 450 of passes compared to the 252 of Pirates.

Khanye told the Siya crew, "Steve Komphela coached me from the under-20 and under-23 national teams. I know him very well. I know him as an honest coach. I feel that maybe he made a mistake with some of his comments after the game. I understand that there is a difference in watching the match from the bench and watching it from the stands. In my opinion, Pirates dominated the game. (Tendai) Ndoro and (Gift) Motupa got chances early in the game and should have scored. The signs were there already.
"The way Pirates moved the ball around was impressive. Their players were comfortable on the ball. Honestly speaking, Pirates deserved more than the two goals they scored. They should have scored four, five or six goals. I think Coach Komphela made a mistake. Maybe he didn't see it well. Chiefs were not comfortable on the ball. Their touches were not like those of a team that is in need of making things happen. Things changed for the better for them when (William) Twala came on," said Khanye.
