Golden Arrows veteran defender, Musa Bilankulu, shared his football journey with SLTV.
Growing up in Gauteng, his older brother and his father were the major influences that led him to play football.
During his primary school years, he would carry the boots of the players in the club his brother played for which only grew his hunger to play at the highest level.
Once he'd completed his high school career, playing for amateur clubs throughout and honing his skills, his life changed forever when he attended trials at Golden Arrows, leaving home in the process.
At 20-years-old, Abafana Bes'thende snapped him up, signing his first-ever professional contract.
Although the sudden and tragic loss of fellow teammate, Nkanyiso Mngwengwe, on May 18th 2020 came as a shock to the football fraternity, Bilankulu encouraged young players to be disciplined and patient, as they develop as professionals.
During this measured interview, Bilankulu also said…
- "I started to recognise the potential and the hunger…"
- "I achieved my dream and my ambitions…"
- "I got an opportunity to train with the team…"
- "I still have an ambition of winning trophies…"
