MTN8 Quarter-final
Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v MP Black Aces
Date: 3 August 2014
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs will host MP Black Aces in the last MTN8 quarterfinal as the two lock horns at the FNB stadium on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 15h00.
The Amakhosi qualified for the Top Eight tournament after finishing second in the Absa Premiership last season while Aces ended in seventh.
The encounter on Sunday will be the two teams first official cup match in almost 20 years having last met in 1995 in the first round of the Bob Save Super Bowl (known as the Nedbank Cup today). Chiefs won 2-0 thanks to goals from Isaac Kungwane and Jerry Mthethwa.
Amakhosi and Aces have clashed in seven cup games since 1985, with the Soweto side boasting six victories (five outright, one via a penalty shootout) compared to Aces' one.
The teams' only Top Eight meeting was a 1989 which Chiefs won 5-0.
Aces are returning to the Top Eight competition for the first time since 1993. In that year they went all the way to the final, but lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates.
Chiefs boast an unmatched pedigree in the Top Eight, with a record number of final appearances (19) and wins (14), though their last triumph was six years ago in the 2008 edition of the 8.
Last year the Amakhosi exited the MTN8 at the hands of Orlando Pirates in the semifinal stage.
