Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic will lock horns in the first quarter-final of this year's MTN8 at Bidvest stadium on Friday night.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 20h00.

The Clever Boys qualified for the top eight competition after finishing third in the league in the 2013/14 season while Celtic finished in sixth place.

Wits have certainly had the better of the Phunay Sele Sele in their recent meetings, winning their last four encounters.

This will be the third cup meeting between the teams within the last year and their second successive MTN8 quarterfinal battle.

In last year's competition Wits defeated Celtic 3-0 in the MTN8 at the Bidvest Stadium thanks to goals from Sibusiso Vilakazi, Getaneh Kebede and Papy Faty.

Then, towards the end of the 2013/14 season, the Clever Boys again got the better of the team in green and white, claiming a 2-1 away win in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup.

In addition, the Johannesburg team also won both home (3-0) and away (1-0) in the clubs' two league matches.

Wits and Celtic have met in eight cup matches down the years and it is the former who certainly have the edge the stats with seven wins under their belt and just one defeat suffered.

Bloemfontein Celtic: Tignyemb, Mzava, Fransman, Bilankulu, Mogapi , Ndengane, Cloete, Isaacks, Mogorosi, Lakay, Mhango.
