Bidvest Wits striker, Chris Katongo, says he's excited to start his Wits career, dispelling rumours that he was on the verge of joining Chippa United.
The veteran forward's move to the Clever Boys was confirmed last month, though he was linked heavily with a transfer to the Chilli Boys following his departure from Golden Arrows.
Katongo, the captain of the Zambian national team, is eager to get amongst the goals this season, though he wouldn't reveal the personal target that he's set himself.
Speaking to the media, Katongo said, "I never spoke to Chippa, I respected the club and everybody else, but I never spoke to them. Pirates also spoke to my agent, but that was all, there was nothing concrete."
"I've got my target for the season, but it's a personal thing, I'll keep it to myself. I'm thinking more about the team than myself. We just need to fight for each and every three points, I just want to do well and try to contribute to this team."
Katongo could make his debut in the MTN8 against Bloemfontein Celtic this weekend, with Gavin Hunt confirming that there will be eight changes from the side that played in last season's Nedbank Cup final.
