Former Maritzburg United player Lungelo Bhengu has secured himself a new deal after spending some time without a club. The defender has sealed a deal with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars after a spell training on his own in Johannesburg.
The Kaizer Chiefs product spoke to the Siya crew about his move to the second-tier side, explaining how the move came about.
"I have signed a one-year deal with the club, and we will see how things go during this period. I am obviously happy to join the club. They are happy to have me, so I will work hard to make sure that I impress while I am here," he said.
"The coach called me to come join the team and I felt good. Coach Sundra (Govender) is also that the club (as a Technical Director). I worked with him when I was at Chiefs," added the 25-year-old.
Casric were in the relegation/ promotion play-offs last season, missing out on winning promotion to the elite level as Cape Town Spurs secured a spot in the topflight.
The club is currently fourth on the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings and will be hoping that the addition of a player like Bhengu, who has topflight experience, will give them a chance to make their way to the DStv Premiership next season.
