Chelsea and Liverpool go head to head in the first-ever all-English Uefa Super Cup – here's how the two sides will line up!
Uefa Super Cup
Teams: Chelsea vs Liverpool
Date: 14 August 2019
Time: 21:00
Venue: BJK Vodafone Park, Istanbul, Turkey
Uefa Champions League holders Liverpool take on the reigning Uefa Europa League champions Chelsea in the annual Super Cup tonight.
For the first time ever, the competition will be contested by two English sides, and further history will be made when referee Stephanie Frappart takes charge of the whistle to become the first woman official to oversee a major European match.
The Reds are the most successful English side in the competition, having lifted the title on three separate occasions, while the Blues have twice been runners-up.
Liverpool will be without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker for the match, however, after the Brazilian suffered an apparent calf injury during the club's 4-1 win over Norwich last Friday, although Sadio Mane has been cleared to play.
Chelsea have concerns of their own after enduring difficult start to their 2019/20 campaign. Frank Lampard's side succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United last weekend, and could be without N'Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger, who will undergo late fitness tests.
The two clubs last met in April, when the Reds ran out 2-0 winners in the Premier League courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah and Mane.
