Mamelodi Sundowns' bitter rivalry with Kaizer Chiefs over transfer of players could have been heightened by Pitso Mosimane, after revelations by Katlego Mphela.
With forward Thembinkosi Lorch not getting game time at Sundowns, Chiefs showed interest in signing the former Orlando Pirates attacker.
However, the Brazilians, with the knowledge that Lorch was not in Miguel Cardoso's future plans, preferred to find another alternative, than to let 'Nyoso' join Amakhosi.
Eventually, Masandawana had a deal with Wydad Casablanca, who signed Lorch on loan until the end of the season, under his former coach Rulani Mokwena.
Chiefs Coach Attracting Interest
Former Sundowns striker Mphela has revealed that Mosimane did not want him to join the Glamour Boys back in 2014 despite not giving him game time.
"I knew I had to leave but to join Chiefs I didn't anticipate that, there was no problems between me and Pitso. The only problem with Pitso was that I was going to Chiefs," Mphela revealed on iDiski Dine YouTube Channel.
"He didn't want to hear anything about Chiefs! So when the rumour came out from Soccer Laduma that Chiefs want 'Killer', that was my first sit down with Pitso after maybe six months.
"He was like, 'My boy, I understand your frustrations, let's fix our relationship, we will give you a one-year contract, I'll give you opportunities to play again'. He was doing that for me not to go to Chiefs. If I went to SuperSport I don't think it was going to be a problem," the former Bafana Bafana striker added.

By the time Mosimane found out about Mphela joining Chiefs, 'Killer' had already signed a pre-contract with the Soweto giants.
It has previously been alleged that the former Al Ahly coach influenced Sundowns to sign George Maluleka, on a pre-contract in 2020, from Chiefs, while the two rivals were in a title race, which was eventually won by the Tshwane giants after Amakhosi rejected Maluleka and terminated his contract with almost one third of the season remaining, after finding out that 'Mido', who was a regular, had signed a pre-contract with Sundowns.
