Ronwen Williams is not expected to feature in the MTN8 first leg semi-final against Stellenbosch FC, but there is an update that should put a smile on the faces of Mamelodi Sundowns followers.
Williams has been battling a shoulder injury which saw him missing out on Sundowns' pre-season tour of Austria not so long ago. Denis Onyango was in goal for the team's opening match of the season against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarterfinals, but the Ugandan is set to miss out on the first leg semi-final against Stellies after being red-carded.

Jody February looks set to start in goal for the Tshwane giants at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Williams a possible option for the technical team in the second leg set to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend.
Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi gave an update on the player's recovery, revealing that there is a chance of a return to action this week.
"Ronwen is very close. He is now off the physios. He is now with our biokeneticists. When he is there, it's just a matter of time before he comes for full training. We are hoping that probably, if God is with us, in the second round of the (MTN8) semi-final," Mngqithi said.

Williams has been included in Bafana's preliminary squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan. With the possibility of making a return for Sundowns this week, the 32-year-old could make the final squad for the crucial qualifiers.
