Mamelodi Sundowns' Africa Cup of Nations stars are set to miss the return of the DStv Premiership, giving some of the other players in the team an opportunity to raise their hands for regular starting berths.
Sundowns have 10 players in the Bafana Bafana squad, Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Aubrey Modiba, Terrence Mashego, Teboho Mokoena, Thapelo Morena, Thapelo Maseko and Themba Zwane.

By reaching the AFCON semi-finals for the first time since 2000, the Bafana Bafana stars are guaranteed to miss the return of Premiership football next week. Bafana are guaranteed to be at AFCON until the final weekend of the competition as they will either play in the third-place playoff or the final.
The third-place playoff will be played on February 10 and the final is scheduled for the following day.
The Sundowns players are, in fact, expected to be given a bit of a break after AFCON before making a return to the team for the yet another hectic period which will see them competing in the Premiership, Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League.
Sundowns are scheduled to play against Golden Arrows on February 13, but they will probably feel they have enough in their arsenal to keep their unbeaten run in the league intact.
The signings of Thembinkosi Lorch, Tashreeq Matthews, Zuko Mdunyelwa and Argentinean Matias Esquivel adds to the quality in the team, while the return from injury of Bathusi Aubaas gives the Brazilians more options in the middle of the park.
Sundowns, who were recently in Polokwane to prepare for the second half of the season, have a nine point lead at the top of the standings and two games in hand over second-placed side Cape Town City.
