Khama Billiat has struggled to find a new club after leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of this season, and former Amakhosi defender Thomas Sweswe says the Zimbabwean didn't make a mistake.
With Billiat aiming for a fitting wage at a new club, critics feel he could've accepted Chiefs' offer and stayed with the Glamour Boys after all. When Billiat's contract ended, he chose to look for a new club instead of return to training in the pre-season.
However, in an exclusive interview with the Siya crew, Sweswe believes Billiat does need a fresh start elsewhere after resting, healing and putting his injury problems behind him.
"I think he has his own reasons to leave Chiefs. I can't blame him for that. I will support his decision. You know last season at Chiefs he was injury prone," Sweswe told Soccer Laduma.

"So I think he wanted to heal first and see his next move. I think he needed this sabbatical leave to figure things out. What I am sure is that he has something cooking for him.
"Something is coming up. You know he is quiet even on social media. He is not like that so he is cooking something for sure. There is talent there no doubt about that.
"He can walk into any team and play. Top talent which cannot be ignored. So, I just hope he is safe and I wish him all the best," Sweswe told Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile Cape Town City are still interested in Billiat, the Siya crew understands according to insiders at the club.
Soccer Laduma had already reported on the Cape Town club's initial interest when speaking to head coach Eric Tinkler.
Siya sources have now indicated that City will still wait for Billiat who is currently trying to impress a club in Saudi Arabia.
"As it stands at the moment, the only team that is still interested in Khama (Billiat) in South Africa is Cape Town City," said the Siya source.
"I can't really say what's going on between him and the club apart from the knowledge that I know that they really want to bring him on board.
"Now it's up to Billiat to let City know if he will join them or not," the source told Soccer Laduma.
City Owner and Chairman John Comitis has confirmed to Soccer Laduma that his club is indeed interested in Billiat.
"Yes, we are still interested in him, but I think he is still trying to make his mark in Saudi Arabia. I haven't heard from him since the last time we spoke. But as a team we are still interested in him," Comitis told Soccer Laduma.
