Motaung Jr Denies Mokotjo Claims

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has opened up on the rumoured Kamohelo Mokotjo deal that didn't happen.

Chiefs were reported to be chasing Mokotjo's signature in the off-season after he returned from United States of America following his spell with Major League Soccer side Cincinnati in 2021.

Mokotjo had a solid career in Europe, where he spent nearly a decade in the Dutch Eredivisie and also stayed for three years in England for Brentford before moving to USA.

There was anticipation that Chiefs would sign the SuperSport United development product, especially after signing Keagan Dolly, who also returned from overseas but Mokotjo ended up signing with Sekhukhune United.

Motaung Jr, contrary to Mokotjo's revelations to the media this week that his talks with Amakhosi "were not fruitful", says they were never interested in the 32-year old.

The young Chiefs administrator says Mokotjo was not recommended by the technical team and so he was not considered as they follow directions from the coaches.

"He (Kamohelo Mokotjo) is a great player but just like Andile Jali he was never a player that we wanted. Coaches have their reasons and it's our goal to help them reach their target," Motaung Jr said on Radio 2000's Game On.
