After facing the DC, it's been confirmed that Chiefs have forfeited the match and have been fined R10 000, an amount which has been suspended for 24 months. Chiefs won the game 5-0, but now have to forfeit the points they collected.
"I can confirm that earlier this morning Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, as well as their player Mr Dithejane, appeared before the PSL DC to answer to charges of fielding a suspended in the form of Dithejane, for participating in a match when he was ineligible to do so. Both of them pleaded guilty as charged and they were subsequently convicted accordingly by the DC," Majavu said in a statement sent out by the PSL on Friday morning.
"With regard to sanction, having listened to the submissions by both parties, namely the prosecutor as well as a representative of the respondents, the DC ruled as follows: One, Kaizer Chiefs was directed and ordered to forfeit the match in favour of Maritzburg United. That was a DDC match. Secondly, Kaizer Chiefs was further fined an amount of R10 000, which was suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that during the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence.
