With Clinton Larsen set to lead top flight new boys Magesi FC in the final of the Carling Knockout Cup, the experienced coach is hoping that the lessons learnt will help the Limpopo outfit throughout the season.
Following their impressive run in the competition, which has seen them defeat Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy and Richards Bay FC respectively, Magesi have one more game to see if they can cause another upset when they take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the final in the Free State on Saturday.

Larsen is hoping that his players are gaining enough experience to take to their Betway Premiership campaign where they will be aiming for further improvement in their results to move up on the standings.
In their last League game, Magesi had managed to lead 2-0 until the last 15 minutes against Kaizer Chiefs and only to earn a point in the end after the 2-2 draw at the final whistle, leaving the team in 11th place on the log with six points from six games.
"Yeah, we definitely threw points away (against Chiefs), but like I've said before, game management comes down with experience as well. And we've got such a young and inexperienced team, and we are going to make mistakes where we will throw leads away because we just don't have the experience to deal with such situations. It happened once and it's going to happen again until the players grow in terms of understanding the tactical demands of the Betway Premiership," said Larsen, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"So, I understand as a coach that players are going to make these mistakes because sometimes a little bit of naivety creeps in into their play, and they are going to learn from these hard lessons. We learnt the hard way against Pirates, against Chiefs… I mean, not everybody goes 3-nil up and 2-nil up against Pirates and Chiefs. That goes to show that we can be an attacking threat, but like I said game management is something completely different. It's something we are going to learn as the season goes on and our young players will continue to make mistakes and are going to learn as the season goes on. You can only improve when you make mistakes to correct them and we are trying to do that with our young players," concluded Larsen.
