The story

South Africa achieved three points in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Congo at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday evening.

It will be the eleventh meeting between the two nations, with Bafana boasting a solid head-to-head record of four wins, five draws and one defeat in their previous ten matches.

One of the more memorable goals from this fixture came during a qualifier in 2000 when Thabo Mngomeni scored an unforgettable bicycle-kick goal, to help Bafana to a 2-1 win on the day.

Mngomeni strike earned the former Pirates midfielder the 2001 CAF Goal of the Year, and out of his six goals for the men's national team, this is undoubtedly his best.
