The story
Buccaneers star Zakhele Lepasa is yet to make an appearance in the 2024/25 season, with 27-year-old missing the entire first round of the campaign due to an ankle injury.
Although Pirates revealed in early January that Lepasa is progressing well with the injury recovery and was continuing his rehab with field-based running, it's not clear whether the Bafana international will be able to boost Bucs' attack for their CAF Champions League quarter-final next Tuesday.
The clash against MC Alger could perhaps be too soon for Lepasa, regardless, the hardworking centre forward seems to be nearing the end of his recovery after sharing some intense workouts on social media.
Lepasa has been working with strength and conditioning coach, Vusi "Mavreka" Hlabangwana to get him in tip-top shape for when he eventually returns to action.
Mavreka's recent track record has seen him adequately prepare Gaston Sirino for his Kaizer Chiefs move and Thembinkosi Lorch for his Moroccan escapade to Wydad Athletic Club.
Could Lepasa revive some of the good form we saw from him at the start of last season? Only time will tell. Watch some of the workouts the popular trainer has Lepasa doing:
