Insiders Provide More On AmaZulu & Folz Reports

Insiders have provided more details on AmaZulu and Romain Folz, following the recent technical team changes at the club.

Earlier this month, Usuthu announced changes to the technical team as Romain Folz was redeployed to the role of technical director, while Ayanda Dlamini was moved from being assistant to interim head coach position.

Several reports in the media had earlier indicated that there had been disciplinary issues in Usuthu camp, which affected the team's results under Folz.

However, AmaZulu refuted those reports and an official word from the club had been that all has been well within the group.

Indications from sources close to the Durban-based outfit are that the French-Moroccan mentor worked well with the players and had a good relationship with many of them.

"The comments and allegations that were recently read about the coach (Folz) are not true. It was probably made up by a small section of people who don't want to be exposed. All the comments were created by a very small minority of people who just want to protect their jobs. The coach was the first one to step up and state that he doesn't tolerate nonsense. He (Folz) was starting to get a lot of power in the club and I can assure you that didn't go well with certain people at the club," a source confirmed to the Siya crew.

"This is a coach who demands excellence and has a very high work ethic. His training and overall work is amazing. He is open to discussion and that's good in my opinion. He is a people's coach in my opinion. He treats everyone the same and has a good heart and that's why I can't accept false statements about him," confirmed another source.

"Honestly, he is the best coach I have ever had. He made us work extremely hard. He is innovative and very smart. He knows exactly what he is doing and it's just great working with him. He is honest and genuine. If you ask me, I see him as a genius," another source added.

"The president is very smart to not let him go. A lot of clubs would benefit from having coach Folz. It's only my opinion, but I believe that he is among the best coaches in the PSL. He just needs support and no sabotage from within. He is a fantastic coach and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to coach in Europe in future. A lot of us here at AmaZulu love him so much," concluded another source.

As confirmed by club president Sandile Zungu when the coaching changes were made, Folz is part of AmaZulu's Vision 2032 plans.
