It was in July this year that the Buccaneers confirmed that midfielder Ben Motshwari had penned an extension with the club until June 2024.
However, the writing was on the wall for the Randfontein-born star whose game time at the club dwindled and in a swift turn of events he has surfaced at AmaZulu.
Usuthu confirmed that the 33-year-old has joined the club on a loan move, which includes the option to extend for a further season.
Motshwari was one of the players who saw very little in terms of game time under Pirates coach Jose Riveiro and made just 17 appearances in the last season and a half.
He joined the Buccaneers from Bidvest Wits in 2018 and has made a total of 133 appearances in all competitions for the club.
Moreover, Usuthu Chairman Sandile Zungu, via a statement reiterated that the club's highly-rated left-back Riaan Hanamub is not for sale.
"The rumours about Hanamub are malicious. We have not been approached by any club regarding his services. He is not for sale," said Zungu.
