Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has spoken about losing out on the UEFA Men's Player of the Year accolade to Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, following the awards ceremony on Thursday night.
Modric Beats Ronaldo Salah To UEFA Player of the Year Award, Messi Only 5th
The Egyptian enjoyed a terrific 2017/18 season with Liverpool, during which he found the back of the net 44 times and set up another 16 goals for his colleagues.
The 26-year-old's efforts were unfortunately not enough to secure him the UEFA Player of the Year prize, but Salah has since stated that he is incredibly proud of what he has achieved so far.
"When you do something for the first time, nobody has done it as an Egyptian before, something great, it's something I have to be proud of," he said, according to the Daily Star.
"There are 100 million Egyptians who see me as a role model. That's something I have to be very proud of.
"Sometimes you feel pressure because of that but it also makes you work harder to do your job better and better and better."
