Atletico won their third Super Cup in eight years when they beat their city rivals Los Blancos 4-2 on Wednesday, courtesy of extra-time strikes from Saul Niguez and Koke.
The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes in Estonia, with Spanish international striker Diego Costa proving too hot for Ramos and Raphael Varane to handle. The 29-year-old got his side off to a flyer when he scored in the first minute of the match, while he added his second in the 79th minute to send the game into extra time.
The last time the UEFA Europa League winners beat the UEFA Champions League winners to the Super Cup was in 2012, which was incidentally also a Los Rojiblancos win.
Real supporters got their first taste of what life without Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday, but Julen Lopetegui is more concerned about his defence.
"Losing was the worst thing, and we conceded four goals and we need to improve on that," he said, according to Marca.
"At the start of extra time we started well and were playing better than they were, but they punished us because of a small error, and we became a bit more desperate to score, then the game went against us and we ended up losing.
