For the entire duration of the recently concluded transfer window, it seemed destined the 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year would leave Napoli.
The 25-year-old did not participate in any of the club's preseason friendlies and was not included in any of the matchday squads once the new Serie A campaign started.
The Lagos native was reportedly a target for Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Al Ahli from Saudi Arabia throughout the window, and while a move to the latter pair seemed likely on deadline day, a transfer failed to materialise and it seemed the pacey striker was poised to spend the first half of the 2024/25 campaign without playing football.
All hope was, however, not lost for the west African forward as Galatasaray pulled out all the stops to land his services, and earlier this week, officially completed a loan deal for him.
Osimhen will wear the No. 45 jersey for the record Turkish champions, and after being announced as the club's newest acquisition, he said about joining Gala, as per Fabrizio Romano: "It was easy for me to accept Gala, it's a big club.
"[Former Gala player and Nigeria teammate Henry] Onyekuru told me how special are the fans, I saw how they welcomed me at the airport… I was so happy.
