PSG 'Draw Up' Seven-Man Shortlist To Replace Mbappe

PSG 'Draw Up' Seven-Man Shortlist To Replace Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly drawn up a seven-man shortlist of top-quality strikers they deem suitable to succeed Kylian Mbappe, who looks likely to join Real Madrid in the coming months.

The French giants are adamant they will not lose Mbappe as a free agent in 2024, but with the club's all-time top goalscorer seemingly reluctant to commit himself to the club's long-term future amid reports he wants to play for his dream club Real next, Les Parisiens are likely going to need an adequate succession plan if they are remain competitive in Europe.

As per CBS Sports, the record Ligue 1 champions have seven forwards in mind who could potentially take over from the Bondy native should he leave, and among the names at the top of the list is Harry Kane.

The England international is now in the final year of his contract at Tottenham Hotspur, and while it has been widely reported that Bayern Munich are favourites to sign the London native, PSG are said to be ready to pounce should that deal collapse.

Another forward reported to be near the top of the list is Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian forward had a largely prolific 2022/23 season with Gli Azzurri as his 26 goals in Serie A helped the club win the league title for the first time in 33 years.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has claimed that the Qatari-owned side is the only team that can afford the 24-year-old, who has had a lofty price tag of more than €150 million (R2.9 billion) slapped on him, but given there are other areas of the pitch that need addressing, an Osimhen approach may not be financially feasible at this stage.

A more realistic target is believed to be Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic. The Bianconeri are not in their best moment of late, having failed to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League, and are consequently looking to recoup funds through the sales of some of their major players, with the Serb front and centre.
