The Manchester club is understood to be looking for more depth in attack, and La Nazione have now reported that United have approached Fiorentina with a big offer for Federico Chiesa.
Despite the considerable bid from the Premier League is, it is claimed the Italian side do not believe it is enough, and are confident an even bigger offer will be lodged.
Chiesa managed 11 goals and nine assists across all competitions for Fiorentina this season, compared to the 20 goals and 20 assists Sancho achieved with Dortmund.
The England international remains the Red Devils' top target in this transfer window, and although there are reports that personal terms between United and Sancho have been agreed, Dortmund seem unwilling to budge on their demands at present.

Chiesa is another good prospect as coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to build a team that can compete for years to come. The 22-year-old is also vastly experienced, having already made 150 appearance for the Viola, and has also earned 17 caps for the Italy, scoring one goal along the way.
