According to Mundo Deportivo, Flick emphasised the importance of the highline during his halftime speech and threatened his players by saying, "Anyone who drops back a meter, I'll substitute them".
The German's words certainly had the desired effect as Los Blancos forward Kylian Mbappe was flagged offside eight times, which equals a Real record from 2004.
Flick's charges outfit now sit six points clear and they can move nine points clear on Sunday if they defeat Espanyol in the Catalan derby.
