Everton secured top spot in Group H after beating VFL Wolfsburg 2-0 at the Volkswagen Arena in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Everton came close to taking the lead in the 13th minute, as Sylvan Distin's header crashed onto the crossbar.
Wolfsburg then went close a minute later with Aaron Hunt forcing Tim Howard into a fine fingertip save from 25-yards out.
The home side dominated proceedings in the first half but it was Everton who went ahead, as a swift counter attack saw Romelu Lukaku out-muscle his marker before calmly slotting home.
Wolfsburg almost leveled matters ten minutes after the halftime break but Howard was on hand to deny Kevin de Bruyne, after the Belgian did well to bypass two defenders.
Aiden McGeady should have doubled the Toffees' lead in the 60th minute but the Irish winger managed to pace his effort over the bar from six-yards out.
Everton eventually doubled their lead in the 75th minute, as Lukaku turned provide to feed Kevin Mirallas, who showed great composure to fire into the bottom corner.
The English Premier League side thought they had a third in final stages of the game, but Ross Barkley was flagged for offside.
