Earlier this week, it was reported that the Mancunians had reached an agreement with RB Leipzig of €90 million (R1.8 billion) for the services of Croatia centre-back Josko Gvardiol, and ahead of their FA Community Shield encounter against Arsenal this weekend, the Spanish tactician confirmed that the 21-year-old was in the process of finalising his move to the treble winners.
"Regarding Gvardiol, what a beautiful name surname he has!" Guardiola told members of the media in a pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, as per Goal.
"He's doing a medical test so everybody knows he's here.
"Hopefully we can finish the deal in the next hours or next days."
Once the transfer is completed, Gvardiol will become only the second signing of the window for the Citizens after they signed his compatriot Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea last month, but the two-time treble-winning tactician has hinted there could be more incomings before the market closes on 1 September.
"I don't know [if City's business is finished]," he added at the presser.
"I think it's going to move something, it's not [done] yet."
