A football administrator has warned Nigeria's Stanley Nwabali that returning to his club, Chippa United, in South Africa after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations might not be a good idea.

Despite Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi having been publicly supportive of the 27-year-old shot-stopper, respected Nigerian football chief Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, a former vice-president of CAF's Appeal Committee, believes he should return to his home country.
Uchegbulam has suggested that Nwabali should decide against heading back to his club side in the DStv Premiership after his match-winning performance against Bafana Bafana amid claims he has received threats.
"The feelers I'm getting from South Africa regarding Nwabali is not encouraging and I want to advise that he should not go back to Chippa United after the AFCON," he told NationSports.
"Some would say it was just football, but the signals I'm getting from South Africa about Nwabali is not so positive.
"If possible, he can forget going back to Chippa United and train with any of our top clubs either, Enyimba United or Rivers United, before he can find a new club.
"That's my honest advice and I hope he takes it."
