The Warriors drew 2-2 with Algeria on Sunday evening, despite losing former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona to injury.
However, the controversy began before the game, when Zimbabwe's new kit manufacturer, Singapore-based Mafro Sports, failed to deliver the team's new apparel on time for the match.
"Unfortunately, due to logistical problems, the Mafro kit has not arrived on time, but we've got an equally good kit which we presented to the officials here and we've been given the green light to use it," Omega Sibanda, vice-president of the Zimbabwean Football Association, told Zimbabwe-based newspaper The Herald.
"It hasn't affected our preparations at all, and the boys are raring to go."
Zimbabwe terminated their kit deal with Spanish sports manufacturer Joma last month, but were still using the Joma kit and equipment for their preparations ahead of their first AFCON since 2006.
The Warriors will be fielding the most Premier Soccer League stars at the showpiece in Gabon, having included eight of the 13 PSL players at the tournament in their squad.
