With Mohamed Salah's contract expiring at the end of the 2024/25 season, Liverpool have reportedly started talks to sign a African star who is viewed as an ideal replacement for the Egyptian star.
As things stand, Salah will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season. The Egyptian attacker has been in otherworldly form this campaign, scoring 30 goals and providing 21 assists in the 38 matches he has played so far.
He is currently spearheading the attack that is leading the Premier League and also finished at the top of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Despite having a phenomenal season with the six-time European champions, the 32-year-old is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, prompting the English giants to strategise for possible replacements for their club legend.
According to Sky Sports News, one of the players they are looking at is Super Eagles star Lookman. The 27-year-old has been in sublime form ever since signing for Serie A outfit Atalanta and has caught the attention of a plethora of European giants as a consequence, one of them being Liverpool.
While he has played a major role in La Dea's recent success, the same report claims that the London-born attacker has now become disgruntled with his situation in Bergamo following his manager's recent comments after their Champions League elimination.
Now, the Merseysiders are believed to have begun negotiations for the reigning African Player of the Year.
The report adds that Lookman is seen as an ideal replacement for Salah.
