The Red Castle's start to the new campaign has been one more lows than highs, having claimed only four victories from their opening 10 matches in the Botola Pro 1.

That, though, according to the club, is not only down to the team's performances.

In a statement released in the early hours of Thursday morning, Wydad challenged the league's refereeing standards to protect the integrity of the competition.

"Wydad Sports Club announces that the managerial office has held several meetings since last Saturday evening to discuss the repeated refereeing errors that negatively affected the team's results in most matches. These meetings come within the framework of the managerial office's assessment of the extent to which these mistakes have affected the club's course and its continuity in achieving appropriate results with the aspirations of his fans," a club statement read.

"As an ancient institution that respects laws and procedures, Wydad Sports Club decided to wait for a response from the Arbitration Directorate, perhaps it would be wise. But unfortunately, we find ourselves in front of a committee that does not hesitate to desperately defend a referee who has been suffering from glaring imbalances since the beginning of the season, imbalances that change the course and results of the matches and negatively affect the professional championship competitions and 'do not live up to' the aspirations of the Moroccan public.

"While we acknowledge that refereeing and its mistakes are part of the game, we were waiting for real reform and correction, but after ten rounds, we only saw flimsy and incomprehensible justifications that are repeated in every media appearance of the directorate, as happened today, where clear penalty kicks were overlooked, not to mention the referee's lack of respect for the advantage and stoppage time, which raises more than one question about the extent of its credibility and its desire to keep up with the serious work being done by the university. Royal Moroccan Football Federation for the development of Moroccan football.

"As we issue this statement, we hold the Professional League fully responsible as the guardian body and the first person responsible for the championship, and we demand that it take immediate measures to correct this serious defect to protect the rights of all clubs and ensure the integrity of the competition. Although the Arbitration Directorate enjoys complete independence, the National League is the first to move to protect the clubs affected by the arbitration. We consider that the continuation of such arbitration violations poses a direct threat to the integrity of the championship and harms its image.

"In conclusion, the Executive Office of Wydad Athletic Club renews its commitment to its fans."
