It seems Txiki Begiristain's departure as City sporting director is poised to set off a series of other major exits from the club.
Some believe his exit from the Etihad Stadium could also see Pep Guardiola, who is in the final year of his contract, leave the club.
If this campaign is the Spaniard's final season with the Sky Blues, this could potentially unsettle Haaland.
It is understood that a massive reason for the Norwegian choosing to sign for the Mancunians was Guardiola, and if the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss leaves, then it is possible the Scandinavian could also be heading for the exit door.
According to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old serial record-breaker is interested in making the move to Real Madrid, with Los Blancos said to share a mutual interest in completing a deal.
The same report claims he could be available for €150 million (R2.8 billion), with it believed his agent Rafaela Pimenta managed to negotiate a release clause of that amount into his existing deal.

Haaland does, however, have a contract that only expires in 2027, but it is claimed that the Spanish and European champions could make a move for the forward as soon the end of this season.
