Since completing his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Al Hilal just over a year ago, fans of the Blue Wave have seen little of the 32-year-old.
Neymar ruptured his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament while on international duty in October last year, and has been recovering ever since.
The Mogi das Cruzes native was expected to return to action at the beginning of the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League season.
He has been regularly posting pictures and videos of himself training recently, leading to speculation of an impending reappearance, but after Jorge Jesus' recent admission, fans can lower their expectations of potentially seeing Neymar playing again any time soon.
"Neymar is a very important player, not just for Al Hilal but for the league as a whole. However, I can't specify an exact date for his return. We will assess his condition again in January," the Portuguese tactician told reporters, as per Goal.
While his persistent injury issues at PSG seemingly caused a lot of tension between Neymar and the club's supporters, that is far from the case in Riyadh, with the same report claiming that Al Hilal fans are eagerly awaiting their Brazilian superstar's return so he can recapture the form that made him a household name.
