The story
Mamelodi Sundowns completed the signing of exciting 19-year-old defender, Asekho Tiwani, from Sekhukhune United on a multi-year deal.
Tiwani was promoted from Sekhukhune's reserves in August 2022, Tiwani played 16 games in all competitions for Babina Noko, scoring two goals in the 2023/24 campaign.
In announcing Tiwani's signing, Masandwana wrote: "The 19-year-old defender has made a name for himself in the Premier Soccer League at his former club, with his highlights including a Goal of the Season-nominated strike in the 2023-24 season."
The youngster may only have two professional goals to his name but one of them is simply out of this world.
He caught Spurs keeper, Zama Dlamini off his line at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and launched a lobbing effort from just in front of his halfway line, which sailed over the head of the hapless Dlamini in the 52nd minute, much to the shock of the teenager and his former Sekhukhune teammates.
Tiwani's wonder strike not only handed his team at the time, a 1-0 league win against Cape Town Spurs in April, but as mentioned above, earned him a Goal of the Season nominee, losing out to Orlando Pirates' Thabiso Lebitso's Soweto Derby screamer in March.
